OK, I have a iPad mini that does not power on.

History: Purchased from an individual, they state they connected to charger and left for a week. This was done because daughter was grounded (belonged to her), so it went in the parents room and was put on charge for a week. After a week, iPad is dead.

I bring home, put on charge 3 hours, still dead. Open it up, pull battery, it shows 2.? volts. I think, ok battery is bad, put a battery Along with 3.7 in, still no power on, does not connect to iTunes, no DFU mode, no restore mode, no nothing.

Replaced power button, still nothing.

Check the board, have 3.7 volts at many places, power button has 1.5 volts and appears to be working.

Where to go from here?

I have repaired several apple devices, have great SMD solder skills, and have another iPad mini open to take measurements from, just no schematic to trace…..

    **Update**
I found PMIC is getting very hot. Got to checking readings compared to the good one I have opened and I found 2 caps and a coil that were shorted to ground. Removed those, and pad from PMIC still has continuity to ground. Would this indicate PMIC is shorted? I assume….wants reballed or replaced? Not sure that Im up to that title=confused

Guys I could really use some to be helped here, Ive checked all the way around PMIC, I dont see anything else shorted, but PMIC still gets very hot when connected to USB or battery (burn you hot). Still wont power up either. Have no idea what components I removed go to (no schematic). Does PMIC want reballed/replaced? or could I have a short before PMIC that makes this pad shorted? Any to be helped appreciated.

No schematics available yet to trace this shorted point.
