iPhone 4 Battery Pin 1 and 4 Short – iphone , Assistance needed

Sorry if this has already been posted, I was unable to find it.


I have an iPhone 4 where the battery connector had fallen off. After soldering it back, I get a short between pins 1 and 4 of the connector. Right now the phone will power on when plugged in only.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Hi mate, have you checked the PA? Reball or replace it and try.

    Im sorry, Im new to the iPhone boards. Whats the PA?

    I dont have the tools to reball and being in the United States, its not worth the labor to get it done. Could it be a simple resistor or capacitor?

    See the big capacitor in red .. Try Get it out I fix many iPhones Along with that!! (Just get it out no want replace or jumper just get it out! )

    If not to be helpeding try to pull out the led driver!

    You dont want to pull out the Led driver, just remove the coil L9.

    A lots of times that do the short.
    try to remove then check ..

    Its will disable flash on camera…

    Well technically the short would still be there, but as it would have no power, it cant, good temp solution.

    The big capacitor in red, where would I find that on the board. I really couldnt make out where that is on the board by the picture.

    Took a little closer look at the picture and I found the capacitor. Removed it and it didnt to be helped. I removed the L9 coil which was extremely hard. It wasnt a clean removal at all, it came off in pieces yet I still have a short. Anybody have a real iPhone board picture Along with the coil? I feel like I may have removed the wrong coil.

    You really just want to look at the battery connector solutions here on the forum, post up a picture of your board, see if we can to be helped get you out of this mess.
