I have an Iphone 4 which had water in it. It was asking for Itunes forever and restore ended Along with error 1611. I thoroughly cleaned the mobo Along with contact cleaner then alcohol, I changed the battery for a new one and plugged everything back together and voilà, the Iphone is booting. I restored it Along with latest jailbroken Ios 4.2.1 and while I did so I noticed that the phone was hot on the bottom right. Once on the spring board, I noticed that the battery wasnt charging at all: if I put the cable in I can see the charging icon and after a minute or so the charged icon appears instead. I dismantled the phone and plugged the battery to the board (Along without everything elese) to see where on the board the heat is building up. It is located around the red circle, on this side or the other I dont know. The phone is getting hot on the bottom right even when turned off!!
did u come around how to fix this problem eventually? cause i have a similar problem Along with heating just that my own phone is dead , from wrong charger and the heating occurs from the pmic (colored green in your photo).
The pcb is not short yet but on pressing the power button the phone consumes a lot of power and still dont come on. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

today i faced this problem on iphone 4 after water damage , phone cannot charge , battery + its shorted and battery drains so fast, and the iphone is hot on this part
my solution , in case you have replacement for +8834Y ic just reball and change this ic and the problem will be solved
in other hand if you dont have a replacement JUST REMOVE !! yeah simply as this remove and test results
i just remove this from this board and works fine, want to be under observation to see if something goes wrong , but seems to be fine

Does someone know which IC or coil or whatever could be part of my problem here? Where should I start to look to troubleshoot?

I had same problem. Error 1611. I confirm if you clean and rehot that area the problem is fixed. 100%
Great, that works, just removed IC….. no more heat an charging works!

I have exactly the same problem. Does the phone have any problems after the chip removal?
How about cleaning the area Along with alcohol and reheating the ic Along with a heatgun, will that work, or is the ic bad?
