Well basically I can do any job easily on I phone 4-4s I know the phones very well and I can do all jobs successfully. Including replacing the headphone volume mute button assembly. I do however find this job a struggle. But only the mute switch. It takes me 15 attempts to get it lined up so that the switch and the button work properly even when they look like they are perfectly lined up. I also find that the mute switch assemblys I purchase do not seem to stick to the metal part that they attach to very well. So much so I have resorted to adding a very very small amount of super glue. Then when I have completed repair sometimes the mute switch does not work at all. I would be so grateful for any tips on this. This is the only repair I hate doing. Due to not knowing what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for replies.

These are fiddly, I can reball any ic, but would struggle to put these on, you can purchase the flex Along with the button already on it.

Thanks for reply. It is strange I have it in and it works fine then when I tighten screws It does not lol. I will look into purchaseing The flex Along with the button attached That will be a to be helped. Have you got a link?

    Thanks again.

Yes they can be tricky. I have placed the iPhone on the narrow side to drop the button into place using tweezers. Then thread screws part of the way. Check for fitment. Then tighten screws.

However, I have had trouble Along with a couple of defective flex cables that were purchased new.

yeah, pretty fiddly alright but still not as bad as the 3gs one. I tend to line the switch and button up first and then using long nosed pliers carefully pinch the whole lot and slowly place into position, still pings out a lot and I too hate that job.

u can use the soldering iron to melt the plastik on the metal of the mute button ,if u want i can make a video for it title=smile

Now that is a great Idea. I have used superglue but I think that is eating into flex cable and causing mute switch not to work. it is crucial for that switch to be solidly attached to the metal for mute switch to work correctly A video would be amazing. Thanks. I repair Iphones. I spoke to a friend who said the only way is to purchase the complete midframe Along with it all pre attached but I would not get any customers for what I would have to charge for that repair.

    Thanks
